_\|/_ _\|/_ _\|/_ _\|/_ _\|/_ _\|/_ BALLOONING PORTION SIZES... Evolution of "the French fry"
IN THE 1950'S AND 1960'S,
Mc Donald's had only one French fry order size.   It was just over two ounces and had about 200 calories - similar to today's "small" order.
_\|/_
IN THE EARLY 1970'S, the original fries became a "small," and a 320 - calorie large size was introduced.
_\|/_IN THE 1980'S, the old "large" became a medium and the new "large" ballooned to 400 calories.
_\|/_BY THE MID-1990'S, the "large" had expanded to 450 calories, plus now you could order a "super size" - at a cost of 540 calories.
_\|/_BY 2000, the "large" had become "medium,' the "super size" had become "large" and the new seven - ounce "super size" weighed in at 610 calories

_\|/_ AND CONSIDER THIS _\|/_
Mc Donald's original burger, fries and 12 - ounce Coke contained 590 calories. One of today's Super Size Value Meals - a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and super - size fries and Coke - delivers 1,550 calories.
